As Vista ships in …..

As vista finally seems to be arriving in to the market next january ,lots of problems seems to be accompanying it too. For those of you who live it up on the latest computers , you can check if you really need this .

* The cost for setting up a computer which workes well with Vista is high.It requires 1GB ram to just be able to move around .

*If you dont register your windows version within 30 days ,then you end up in a situation where your computer works just for 1 hour and that too just a browser (as slashdot reports)

* An upgrade from WinXP to Vista will cost you around $3250 to $5000 (as slashdot reports )

*Most people be it students or proffessionals usually have a dual boot with Linux /XP .But Vista is going to make Dual boot just a little more difficult .It comes along with a Hardware based encryption technique called BitLocker which locks out hard disk for sensitive data communications usually needed in a dual boot.So in a case your hard disk crashes forget backups if u haventtaken them already . The bitlocker locks out backdoor entry in to computer usually needed in criminal investigations .

* It contains the Microsoft SPP(Software Protection Plan) which secures or disables access to windows kernel and thereby rendering Symantec and McAffee out of show. This in fact has put in a number of law suits since microsoft is a partner with these anti-virus solution comapnies ,the playing field has just gotten a little unfair as it looks like to me . (reuters report here )

* Ofcourse with all these comes the price factor and constant licensing

Trust me i got nothing against MS :) nor propreitory software. It is just the case i see so many people planning a upgrade from XP to Vista or buying down Vista for the sheer interest it has created and sleak previews and add to that 3d looks on its desktop, beautiful icons, easy to use customization technique for microsoft it is going to be a huge jump from XP but i think we would want our computers to do much more than just look good , If your work is just about daily use i would say stay with XP ,the upgrade may not be just the worth so much .However if you got lotsa money searching what to do with it Vista is just right for you .

ANd i heard Games come in great with it :)

PS: i Just realised there is no category called technologyt !! or computers archie can you add any one of those .
