I attended this lecture at foss.in/2006 by Frederick FN Noronha and it was just the one needed for our glug.We do have lot of stuff going on but the participation at the mailing lists is very poor. Here were some nice tips. These are more of a personal note than for others.

Points to encourage
1
* Mailing list
* Core team
* Play around with s/w
*Have something to talk about .

2
*LIP list (linux programmers )
* life cycles of mailing list (google)
* Implementing ideasin a group
* Linux manipur mailing list
3
* Record Keeping (phone num)
* campaigns
* Media
* barcamp.org
4 how to scale up
* CSI,
*Media medium
* how to make news ? editorials ,
FM radio ,
* softwarefreedomday.org
*tld.org/HOWTO/user-group-HOWTO.html
* linux-mafia.com/faq/Linux_PR/newlug.html
*#linux-india
We have actually gone about these.

First a brand new website (wiki ) to be put up

Hi, I hope you’ll managed to make progress on this front. I’d really like to help eitherway. It would be nice to see more active user-groups across India. You’re welcome to join ours too and crosspost any useful information http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ilug-goa

Needless to say: all the best! FN
