Guess ?

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

A very popular contest read ” Pass through the levels and who reaches the final stage gets all the cash ” :) and i promise the money was big enough to anyone spend time on it.Definitely me.

I dragged around the first stage for about 5 minutes and my mind would only go back to the rules ” Which ever means” and i decided to try some things out.

And the very first trick did , the LOG generated when transferring files from one server to the web server resides in the output directory which can be read by anyone as it lies in the webroot.

Guessing the FTP client isnt all that difficult you can bet it is WS_FTP or smartftp or cuteftp :)

And here again it worked and it gave me the list of all the files residing on the server and from there on ,its just a matter of time when you arrive at the final page just trial and error.

On contacting the admins if this legal [Forget being ethical or unethical] ,the change in rules clarified “ethical performances” and i am ruled out .

Not being sad really ,i didnt deserver to get a penny still just wonder if i should put down some mistakes that usually happen .

* PHP~ files, these files are the backup files created bt whatever texteditor you use .These are dangerous because they actually tend to show the PHP files in text format and hence all your DB passwd and other info .

* blablah.LOG :) well this shows out all the files in current directory

I guess sometimes the phrase Guess ?? could so easily be interpreted as guessing for ~ files or LOG files than the answer itself.

UPDATE:The post was modified so that some contents stayed out :)

We are friends for life …

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

Do they really exist ?.so often promises are made and like many other promises .This is one of a life long friendship is broken too leaving wounds to nurse and mixed feeling . what went wrong ?. especially now when most relations that we come across are on the Internet thanks to orkut , myspace and what not ….

Are relationships really exist without any expectations ? .People do expect something in every relation they have .

A number of colloquial terms have been used to describe friendship and the context in which a friendship is fostered. These are briefly described below.

  • A friend who supports others only when it is easy and convenient to do so is called a “fair-weather friend”.
  • A friend who supports their own friends through emotional difficulties is a “true friend.” This term also denotes a large degree of altruism, in that the true friend often sacrifices something of his or her own (usually their time and resources) in order to help the friend in need. True friends also are known to be very rare. A true friend may not be your best friend but someone who you know will be there for you.
  • Friend who are sexually intimate but don’t consider themselves to be dating is said to be a “casual relationship“. This is also referred to as being “friends with benefits”.
  • A “best friend” is a friend to whom one feels closest. It is usually implied that the relationship is reciprocal, but such is not always the case, and best friend relationships can often be very complex.

The most important thing about friendship that clearly separates it from other forms of love is communication Mark Vernon

writes in his book “The Philosophy of friendship

Friendship is the most dangerous love of all because the other loves can exist without communication, but friendship is totally based on it.

Especially more so with the advent of social networking sites as mentioned previously , they i would say have taken the zing out of friendships. All that they might help you is getting on with people who might be useful to you or people to whom you might be useful .The chances are sooner than later you might be replaced with someone who is of more utility than the present you .Nothing wrong i would say its just the way friendships have taken shape at least most of the friendships that we see around .It is the need [purpose] to interact that makes them interact and once the need isn’t anymore ,the relationship does tend to hang in balance.

I personally have been a witness to at least three such stories, friendships that promise to just keep going just gets stuck in a rut and after a while it just refuses to move leaving the people involved ,with no other choice but to discard it.

It never takes too much to ruin a friendship just a casual ,taken for granted attitude is good enough :) .

whomsoever told “friendships are for ever ” ,i don’t think so. They exist as long as they are needed to and trashed when they aren’t needed.
