Posted on 18th May 2007 by TaggyThe past 10 days have made me move away from my favourite political party . The party my uncle and family have been supporting for more than two decades . Yeah the party iam talking about is the DMK . The recent split with the Maran family owned Entertainment networks ,more specifically the Dinakaran AC Nelson Poll which resulted in the death of two software enginners and a security guy at the dinakaran’s office , the attack apparently launched by DMK supportes and The leaders elder son .
And then the DMK sits down and asks Dayanidhi Maran to resign citing his inappropriate actions against the interest of the party . Does it mean the attack by party cadres and more importantly the leaders son in the interest of party or the people who put them through . May be Kalaignar is too old to reign the party ? . These questions really disturbed me , i had believe in the party and his leadership since i was a kid and now he has put his family interests over the interest of people . Dynastics politics is here to stay surely .
Alrite accepted Dinakaran was warned and advised not to put out the results ,and so dayanidhi maran was pulled out ,what happened to the DMK Cadres who set fire to the press office .FIR and kalaignar’s elder son walks scot free . I must accept i feel utterly ashamed of having been believed in such a meek leader .
Dayanidi Maran for the record was one of the most tech savvy and successfull ministers in the cabinet BSNL saw a 27 % increase in its profit ,more than 16 billion $ FDI, Mobile phones becoming so much cheaper ,Broadband becoming a gas like amenity in all houses . SO much and now he is replaced by a minister who was an environment and agriculture minister !!!! .
What this also means is DMK loses a huge publicity platform ,no matter how much mileage you take out of RAJ Tv who seem to be their current channel .SUN Tv made sure DMK won the public elections with its wide exposure of AIADMKs short cominngs,retelecasting of the famous Jayalalitha’s adopted son marriage which turned a tide in favour of DMK . No channel today in south india has the access hat SUN empire can have and surely no one has the credibilty and viewership that they can boast off .
It will be interesting to see how DMK manages to come up with now , will it cost them the next election ? or the maran’s just patch up ?
