Conference in GTalk
Posted on 3rd June 2007 by TaggyYes , you heard it right .You can have a conference chat/talk using your GoogleTalk or basically Jabber server.
You can download the bot from here . Its coded in python and hence you would need python installed ,the rest should run smoothly .
Steps
1 . Create a userid@gmail.com which will act as the bot .
2. unzip the bot.zip ,cd bot , ./bot.py and it will prompt you for the account credentials .I don’t have the link for original site since my friend had just passed me on this archive.Anyone who finds the original site, kindly mail me the link so that i can add it here .
3. now in your GTalk add the userid@gmail.com as friend and it will immediately tell you the status and chat users who are on the list and enjoy MU ( Multiuser chat) .
Here is the screenshot
For discussions regarding glugt please add glugt.nitt@gmail.com and you shall find all the GLUG-T junta .

Nice one da, but can this work through proxy. I remember you writing something for the planet and make it work through proxy.
Do something like that for this. Will be really useful in college.
i dont think it will work through proxy sp2hari because the planet was just working over HTTP and you have urllib and urllib2 for working . Anyhow lets hope :) but i dont understand why we need to run this through proxy ? . we can run the daemon from any free host or freeshell iam sure wont take any offence or worst case my theyagar.info would love to host it . Iam sure we will get it running in college too
thyagu , how about a #kadlai . ha ha
seri seri start one for our skool junta . what say ?
you can run it through a proxy using a transparent socks/http proxy like freecap http://www.freecap.ru/eng/
Even this is working through urllib and urllib2. I tried to find where it connects to the server but in vain :( . How will you start a server if you wann start one from college ?? Or if you want to stop one, how will you do from college ?
If you can find where it actually connects to the gtalk server, it will be really great :)
Really Nice !!And thanks for the mgl offer!!!
[...] a wonderful little package to make Google chat bots or in general any jabber chat bot .Remember the conference bot posted earlier [...]
