As you might have noticed,i have moved from .info TLD to .com now . why did i do this ?
.com reads more professional doesn’t it ? and thats why . So kindly update your bookmarks and feeds.I have made the change in my Feedburner feed ,its still the same.

and for those who think the old links of posts wont work ,i have tweaked around to make sure that works too.Using theyagar.info as symlink to theyagar.com and also redirecting the permalinks .
and has the change made any difference to traffic ?
unfortunately yes :( my urchin stats reports only 3K hits on thursday ,much lower :(( .I hope it increases as i write on .

Its been a wonderful day for me :-) .I finally moved to a new host and the experience has been wonderful.It took less than an hour for the domain to propogate and i managed to add 2 domains my old theyagar.info to my theyagar.com in just two commands :-) . Thanks to wordpress .
And the scheme i chose to take was the Grid Server and its amazing .I will list down the statistics

- SSH access ( i love this so very much )

- Brighter Lamp ,yeah you get to edit your php.ini and it has already helped me in doing two things .
- one click install with the latest opensource packages ( yeah i did this wordpress 2.2.1)
- Ruby on Rails ( yes i always wanted to try this and now i have a good chance a 64Mb grid and wait until you see some RoR here
- A cheap .com domain , theyagar.com costs me just 5$

Most preferably GLUG’s ,i know how difficult it can be to get to host somethingfor free with a good host for linux user groups,myown GLUG-T is generously hosted by Space-kerala .
and yes,since most of the hits to my .info were from google and i could not afford to lose all the crawled links :( so i hit upon a nice idea .Install the wp in new domain and get the permalinks redirect to work .
I reproduce the steps below
- enable SSH from your control panel ,and login to your shell by ssh
- Create an alternate domain which you previously had ,in my case it was theyagar.info .
- Once you created it,you must be able to see theyagar.info directory in your /domains/theyagar.info
- you need to do two things here ,to point theyagar.info to theyagar.com ,rather theyagar.info should server the same content as theyagar.com does .
cd ~/domains
rm -rf theyagar.info
ln -s theyagar.com theyagar.info
this creates the symbolic link and hence you get all your traffic to theyagar.info to serve content from theyagar.com
now for maintaing the old links,you will need a plugin PermLinks redirector .
Just configure it from options tab and make sure to check box
Redirect if hostname is notwww.theyagar.com. . it redirects the old posts in to the corresponding new entries :-)
