One of the highlights of passing out is to get the reminiscence form filled out.For those who dont know what it is . Its the form wherein you make your friends write somewords about you :) .good or bad honest words .Unfortunately the form we get has only a few lines and hence few friends to fill it up .Now thanks to google docs ,it lets me create forms,mail them and get to have some more friends write in to these . Alagu last year had a rem form in the form of google notebook but i guess this one is easier to maintain :) a form in to a spreadhsheet .Thanks google :-) And yeah i have sent the invite to most of my friends incase i missed you then please mail me ! i want as many people ( who know me ) to fill it up ! and yeah its anonymous !Â
Like any premiere college in india ,NITT has its own share of successfull alumni too and what better way for students to learn than from the men who actually did it .
Ever wondered how it should be talk/interact with people who passed out a decade ago and are up their in the ladder where you aspire to be ? better if they went to the same school you are .The flow of knowledge and guidance is almost infinity !.
It is in that desire and an attempt to create such a vibrant community for NITTians ,by them and for them that we have pulled up NITTians.com
While at the outset its going to aggregate all the blog/journals of NITTians we also want to use it a platform to showcase the things that happen in the campus and the things our alumni do in the real world !
It has already arrived and yes its hosted now at my shared hosting and not sure how its going toscale up .It would be great if any our rich :D alumni can sponsor some good space ! .We have built this portal involving quite a few tools from python,php and memcache .We surely expect this site to pull up some bandwidth An ordinary ultracheap wont do the work ! it has to be a host thats good like the mediatemple or such hosts ! ther are surely going to be costly .But where there is a wil there is a way .
Iam sure with time we will find a solution to this as well ,dont panic if the sites goes down for a few hours ( shared hosting has it issues) and we will come out great soon,pretty soon infact !

yes,its pretty exciting now .My restlessness in holidays gave rise to a small hack,the twitter hack ,twitter.com/meninblue ( update: The scores and commentary was taken from their wap feed ) .Shortly after i released it ,i got a hello mail from Krishna Vedati ,the CEO of a silicon valley startup and they kindof liked my little hack and asked me if you could do some for them .
People who know me know it well,the word startup excites me for it allows
- one to work with things that are close to his heart
- Write production ready code overnight and see people use it the next morning
- And best to work with people who are smart and will help you become smarter
- Get paid to do what you love to do and learn to do the same in a better way
- yeah the place is silicon valley the *hottest* technology bed
i told him i would love to and checking out their widgets page at plusmo ,i see a huge list of existing widgets and now i get to add some :) and hopefully ones that people will love to use and keep it on their phones.
Ok,its not for this announcement that iam making this post ,i wanted to put a few things
I told you how i landed with this oppurtunity ,a little idea ,one that people will *use* it and working with the latest in thing .
In my case twitter and cricket action that is on . Iam sure there are lots of people who do such hacks and better ones than mine :-) ,as much as it is fun making them i would suggest taking them to a bigger audience and build a even more robust app is exciting and challenging . The team at plusmo respects such ideas and hackers would love to work with them and same with me ,if you are in india and have some really cool ideas with proven skills with technologies (mobile html ,python,popular socialnetwork API’s ,linux and opensource ) then please feel free to mail me up ,i would be more than happy to get you in touch with some people who can help you out .
Also to tell my friends ,yes iam very excited to be working with a team that looks great on paper and does work thats as good and exciting .
