for someone like me who is online for most part of the day ,searching through stuff that i visit has become a pain .
I know thers digg and delicious but i hate logging to a website for that as well ,as lazy as i can be but i wud always prefer a simpler solution .
For the same reason i sat down to wrote a tiny jabber bot that can keep bookmarks for you and lets you search within your gtalk when u want to look up to those .
its easy just 3 easy steps .
1.Add grepurl@gmail.com to your friends list/send a chat invitation to grepurl@gmail.com
2.To add a url send ” add http://url.com tag1,tag2,tag3,so-on “
3. To search through tags ” search tag_name “
thats it ! i can understand if you r a great fan of digg and delicious but i like this to do from my gtalk and i thot may be i will reach out to more lazy guys like me here :p .
Coming Next - > friends/share and search through bookmarked web page content .
Do u think this idea is worth some time ? may be you want to join in and implement your own idea ?
Just shoot me an email and we can work together .
What is this bot built on : xmpppy :-) so i guess python is useful to know if you are interested in this project .

Yet another disappointing feature from google. I hate to see google trying to dictate what i do with my machine .
First the privacy issue and now this .
http://seoker.com/2008/02/11/google-hijacking-404-error-pages/
leave alone the discussion of right and wrong but why should this be there in first place at all ?
Update : http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/12/fyi-on-google-toolbars-latest-features.html
The suggestion come in only when u dont have a custom 404 error !!
this post clarifies a lot of things but why cant i just redirect to my homepage if a link doesnt exist ! why shud i send what google wants me to ?
I logged in to orkut to find a new feature that i havent noticed before, the orkut people search .Facebook had opened up the people search sometime ago but google opening this didnt get much attention though .
And more strangely the default choice is yes ,ie people can search for your name at google and it will show up your orkut profile . strange isnt it ?

while the default option in facebook was a no .I would have expected orkut people to throw up a mail or a notice on the orkut homepage before doing this .Invasion of privacy or rather misuse of it ?
you can see the this in the settings page .
